Luann D’Agostino, a longtime community advocate, dedicated volunteer, and small business owner, today announced her candidacy for Delaware State Representative in District 23, pledging to fight for Delaware families, strengthen public education, expand access to healthcare and affordable housing, make our communities safer, and ensure Delaware’s future is equitable, inclusive, and sustainable.
“For too many families in District 23 and across Delaware, the cost of housing, healthcare, childcare, and basic necessities keeps rising while wages stay flat,” said D’Agostino. “I’m running because our community deserves a representative who listens, shows up, and fights unapologetically for everyday people.”
D’Agostino brings decades of real-world experience to her campaign. She began her career as an engineer and senior account manager at Hewlett-Packard, excelling in a then male-dominated field, before becoming a successful small business owner and founder of Take The Lead, Delaware’s most recognized ballroom dance studio. She has also spent time in financial services and in the non-profit world with PAWS for People where she coordinated children’s literacy and wellness pet therapy programs across Delaware and the surrounding areas.
Committed to improving the health and safety of our communities through her volunteer work, D’Agostino is approaching 20 years of providing pet therapy visits in schools, hospitals, nursing homes, and correctional facilities across our state. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she volunteered on the front lines with the Delaware Medical Reserve Corps and as a long time Moms Demand Action volunteer she works tirelessly to end gun violence in our communities.
D’Agostino has deep roots in civic engagement and advocacy, serving as:
Statewide Election Lead for Moms Demand Action
Executive Board Member of Friends of Christina School District
Education Portfolio Member/Chair for the League of Women Voters of Delaware Advocacy Corps
Vice Chair of Democratic Representative District 22 and active member of RD23
President of Cotswold Hills homeowners association and member of multiple local business and civic groups
Her platform focuses on:
Strong, effectively funded public education
Safer communities and an end to gun violence
Civil, reproductive, and LGBTQ+ rights
Worker’s rights - livable wages and protections
Accessible healthcare
Affordable, stable housing
Climate and environmental responsibility
Democracy, transparency, and voting access
“I’ve lived the struggles so many families face—economic instability, health challenges, discrimination, and fighting systems that just don’t work,” D’Agostino said. “Those experiences drive my commitment to make sure our laws and actions reflect compassion, fairness, and dignity.”
D’Agostino will be campaigning throughout District 23, listening to residents, building coalitions, and advancing a vision of a Delaware that works for everyone.
